Minutes of The Village of Hunter Special Meeting held
Friday, October 28, 2022 at 1:00pm

Call to Order: Pledge of Allegiance.  Mayor Michael Papa called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM.

Board Members Present: Mayor Michael Papa, Trustee Benjamin Sommers, Trustee Dorothy Grasso

Village Officials and Employees Present:   Kathleen M. Hilbert, Clerk/Treasurer

Public Present: None

The purpose of this Special Meeting was to: Cancel the tax levy amount of $817.18 for tax map number 193601 164.10-2-35 and issue an adjusted tax warrant.

Water Operating Budget decreased to $472,717. Rate per EDU decreased to $199.79 per EDU. Commercial rates also decreased – one EDU plus .011 per gallon.

Resolution to Authorize the Removal of Tax Levy Amount and

Issue Adjusted Tax Warrant

Motion made by Mayor Michael Papa, seconded by Trustee Benjamin Sommers.

WHEREAS, the tax levy amount of $817.18 for Tax Map Number 193601 164.10-2-35 appears on The Village of Hunter’s Tax Roll for the period June 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023, and

WHEREAS, this property was transferred to The Village of Hunter as of May 25, 2021 per Greene County records, and

WHEREAS, said property is tax exempt, and The Village of Hunter has submitted Form RP-554 Application for Corrected Tax Roll in duplicate to Greene County Real Property Tax Services, and

WHEREAS, Raymond T. Ward, the Director of Real Property Tax Services, has stated via his October 20, 2022 e-mail that this is not a correctable error under Real Property Tax Law,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the tax levying body of The Village of Hunter hereby cancels the tax levy amount of $817.18 for Tax Map Number 193601 164.10-2-35 in accordance with Title 3 of the NYS Real Property Tax Law, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Mayor will submit to the Clerk/Treasurer an adjusted tax warrant to be attached to The Village of Hunter’s 2022/2023 tax roll as follows:

ADJUSTED  TAX  WARRANT

 

To:  Kathleen M. Hilbert, Treasurer and Tax Collector of The Village of Hunter

You are hereby commanded to receive and collect from the several persons named in the assessment roll, hereunto annexed, the several sums named in the last column thereof opposite their respective names, for the following purposes:

For the General Fund                                        $ 763,148.79

For Delinquent Water                                       $ 50,747.18

For Village Sewer                                               $ 141,301.74

For Liftside Sewer                                              $ 42,784.94

For Colonel’s Chair Sewer and Debt Service          $ 29,679.61

Being for all purposes a total amount of                                                        $ 1,027,662.26

Upon the receipt of the roll and warrant by you and on or before the first day of June, you shall cause to be published in the official paper of The Village of Hunter, once a week for two consecutive weeks, a notice that such tax roll and warrant have been left with you for the collection of taxes therein levied and shall designate one or more convenient places in The Village where you will receive taxes from June first to and including July first from 9:00AM to 4:00PM except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays;

For said period of time, you will receive all taxes paid to you without additional charge;

On all such taxes remaining unpaid after July first, interest of five per centum shall be added for the month of July and an additional one per centum for each month and fraction thereof thereafter until paid.

You shall attend at the time and place specified in said notice for the purpose of receiving said taxes;

After the first day of July, you shall proceed to collect the taxes remaining unpaid with interest as herein provided and for that purpose you are possessed of all the powers of a village tax collector.

All interest collected shall belong to The Village of Hunter.

All Unpaid taxes shall be turned over to the County Treasurer on November first to be relevied.

And for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrant.

In Witness Whereof:  The Board of Trustees of The Village of Hunter has caused these presents to be signed by its Mayor and the seal of The Village of Hunter is hereunto affixed this 28th day of October, 2022.

The resolution was thereupon declared duly adopted on October 28, 2022.
