Working for The Village of Hunter DPW is routine manual work requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform tasks under direct supervision of the superintendent. The Village of Hunter employee possesses a good work ethic and shows up on time.
Typical work activities include but are not limited to:
Assist in snow removal from roads, sidewalks and parking areas.
Assist in road construction and repairs.
Mows and cuts grass, brush and trees.
Cleans ditches and culverts.
Repairs guard rails and other safety devices.
Assists in preparation of a safe worksite.
Operates motor equipment as directed.
Paints buildings, motor equipment, etc.
Performs maintenance of equipment, including motor equipment.
Keeps buildings and grounds clean and maintained.
Does flagging when required.
Drives vehicles for work and transportation of crews.
Picks up garbage, occasionally lifting heavy items.
Performs sewer and water department related maintenance and repairs to buildings and systems.
Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities:
Willingness to perform routine manual work.
Ability to lift heavy weights.
Willing to arrive and work in all weather conditions.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Willingness to receive training (OSHA, PESH, ETC.)
Physical condition shall be commensurate with the demands of the position.
Preferred qualifications: Commercial Driver’s License, welding, mechanic work, equipment operation, snow plowing experience, road construction.
